Surf Shanty Motel

We really couldn't have been more pleased with our stay here. Our goal was to find a locally owned hotel, close to the beach at a reasonable price. Needless to sat Surf Shanty Motel fit the bill. It's location in the middle of Dewey Beach and steps from the beach is unparalleled. The extras like an outdoor shower, in room sound machine, bike rentals, and Fiji water are all greatly appreciated perks. Also, we really liked how responsive and personal management was to us. We had a tornado warning and were quick to tell us where to go. The one negative is their surf shop was never open when we stopped by. Thus, we couldn't get our free gift. Oh well! My family and I will be back!

Great, clean, and convenient place to stay. Right off the Van Dyke beach access. The location makes short work of getting on and off Dewey beach. Andre was as advertised and was super helpful and welcoming. The room was clean and like others have mentioned the beds were super comfy and easy to fall asleep in. Highly recommend!

First time in Dewey Beach and we are so happy we stayed in this adorable, clean, comfortable and perfectly located motel. Steps to the beach, wonderful breakfast shop across the road and some really fun restaurants around the corner. We were able to walk 2 miles on the beach to Rehoboth. Found plenty of sea glass along the way. Andre was so welcoming and you can tell how much he loves this place. April is quiet in the best way. Must be so fun in the summer too! Highly recommend and will definitely be back!

surf shanty is a clean, relaxing, and overall wonderful place to stay in Dewey beach. This place feels more like a hotel and the owner is so nice and accommodating! He let us check out an hour late and acted as a wonderful concierge for us. I would highly recommend this place to stay in Dewey beach.

This is the best place to stay at Dewey! The location is unbeatable with just a quick walk to the beach. The rooms are very clean, and are well decorated. Andre, the manager, was very kind and helpful during our stay. I look forward to returning next summer!!

Stayed for 3 nights during a wedding weekend in late April. Andre was super friendly and helpful at check in. Stayed in the Wave Rider Retreat and it was clean, comfortable, has everything you need and more for a short stay. The Keurig and coffee supplies were a nice surprise. The motel is vintage hip in decor, but also brand new and tucked away on the south Ocean side of town so it's still quiet. I love that it's on the ocean block for a quick 2 min walk to the sand. Will definitely be back!!

This is a hidden gem of a motel. It was perfect! Quaint. Well decorated. Very very clean. Comfortable beds and pillows. A very short walk to the beach. Everything you would need for a vacation. Bring your own beach towel and chair. The only negative I would point out is the lack of a concrete area to go from pavement to room…right now it is rock. It’s a safety concern for seniors and I would think wheelchairs would find it extremely difficult to maneuver. Overall a 10 star stay! We will be back!

If you're looking for the perfect beach stay in Dewey, look no further. This place nails the Endless Summer vibe with its fun teal and orange color scheme, laid-back surfy charm, and amazing attention to detail. It's the cleanest place I’ve ever stayed—seriously spotless. The beds were super comfortable with soft, fresh white bedding, and there were so many cute design touches throughout. The location is unbeatable—less than a block from the beautiful beach, and just a short walk to all the fun restaurants and bars in town. Plus, they have adorable teal bikes available for guests, which made cruising around town even more fun. The staff was fantastic—huge shoutout to Rebecca & Andre, who were incredibly kind, informative, and made us feel so welcome. The whole stay was peaceful, relaxing, and just really well done. I would a million percent recommend staying here if you're in Dewey Beach. Already dreaming of coming back!
